When we’re out of the office and the courtroom, we still like finding ways to keep the law in our lives. We decided to share some of our favorite legal shows and movies to give a glimpse at the different ways in which lawyers are portrayed on-screen.
Brian’s pick: The Rainmaker
Why he likes it: “I’ve always loved the longshot. The Rainmaker details a young lawyer and his first case against an insurance company and its army of lawyers to obtain life-saving treatment for a sick boy.”
Favorite quote: “Are you in over your head, son?”
“Absolutely!”
Melissa’s pick: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
Why she likes it: “It shows the investigative process for different types of cases and you get to see how it plays out in court. You get to see how they help people.”
Favorite quote: “No one can tell you who you are and what you are made of, only you yourself know what you are made of, and only you yourself can do the work to become who you want to be.”
Natalie’s pick: Dark Waters
Why she likes it: “It shows a committed and determined attorney that puts his clients first and fights for all victims involved.”
Scott’s pick: Boston Legal
Why he likes it: “I like the combination of James Spader and William Shatner. It probably has the worst legal backing you will ever see, but it’s just hilarious.”
Favorite quote: “Denny Crane.”
Maggie’s pick: Legally Blonde
Why she likes it: “Elle Woods is one of my all-time favorite characters. I love her confidence and drive, and it’s impossible not to root for her.”
Favorite quote: “If I’m gonna be partner in a law firm by the time I’m 30, I’m going to need a boyfriend who’s not such a complete bonehead.”
